The history of boilCrawfish.com...
I grew up in South Louisiana loving the fresh fish, shrimp, crabs, oysters, crawfish, and the like. Especially the crawfish. I remember waking up on Saturday mornings and inhaling my parents' left-overs from their dinner at a seafood restaurant the night before for breakfast. The seafood was so good and so prevalent that I really took it for granted.
After graduating from LSU, I moved to Dallas where I live now. You would think that living only 3 hours from the Lousiana/Texas border and with all of the people from Louisiana that live here, you would be able to get good crawfish in Dallas. I certainly figured that I would be able to when I moved here anyway. Boy was a I wrong. While there are a few places that do alright when you just have to have some, nothing compares to a day of cooking crawfish with your family and friends.
Several years later, I decided that I needed good crawfish more often than the one or two times I could get
home each year during crawfish season. So, I set out to find a pot and burner of my own. There were
turkey fryers with boiling baskets everywhere, but the largest one I could find was only 34 Quarts.
And that just isn't big enough. I tried calling all of the places I could think of back home, but nobody
would ship one to me. Finally, I started searching online. While there were lots of places online selling
large "Stock Pots with Boiling Baskets", I was looking for more. I wanted to talk to people that had used what they were selling. People who could say I've used this pot with this burner and it works.
So that is where I hope this site comes in. I have used these products to cook crawfish. I'll tell you what I bought and why I bought it, as well as why some products are better in some situations than in others. If you have any questions or comments, please contact me through the
