The flame spreader plate allows for two different types of cooking. Leave the flame spreader in the open position for boiling or deep frying, close it for steaming and pan frying.
If you want to use this burner for frying fish, check out our 3-piece leg extension set in the Accessories category. They'll raise the height to 24" so you won't have to bend over while cooking.
Editor's note: This is the burner that I use with my 100 Qt. Crawfish Pot. It gets hot fast, and that is what matters when boiling crawfish. Its 14" diameter works well with large and small stock pots, and deep fryers alike. The steel frame is strong and sturdy. It produces enough heat that I'm able to cook 3 batches on one tank of propane without worrying about running out. The 12" height is low enough that you can pull the boil basket full of crawfish out of the pot without a struggle.
